The Story Behind the Knit

Every Iris & Co. turtleneck starts with fiber from Arles Merino flocks in southern France — a breed prized for ultrafine diameter (under 18.5 microns) and exceptional crimp. That crimp traps air without bulk, keeping you warm at 4°C or comfortable at 18°C.

We work with a single spinning mill in Biella, Italy. The raw wool is combed, spun, and dyed using GOTS-certified processes. The result is a 2-ply yarn with a hand feel closer to cashmere — but with the durability and wash resilience that cashmere can’t match.

How to Style It

For work: Layer under a blazer with tailored trousers. The turtleneck silhouette gives structure without a button-down. Navy Blue and Forest Green pair naturally with charcoal and tan suiting.

For weekends: Worn alone with high-waisted denim for a clean, minimal line. The Light Pink colorway works as a statement against dark outerwear. For colder days, layer under our Heavyweight Wool Cardigan for tonal knit-on-knit.

Care Instructions

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle or hand wash. Use a wool-safe detergent — we recommend Eucalan or Soak. Lay flat to dry; never hang merino, as the weight of water stretches the fibers. Store folded, not on hangers. A sweater comb removes occasional pills without damaging the fabric.

Merino is naturally antimicrobial — you can wear this sweater several times between washes without odor. Air it out overnight instead.
